Kicking off her first of two Drawing Walks this Summer, Karen Howse will be leading a drawing workshop 'Taking a sketchbook for a walk' on Saturday 9th June. Participants are invited to take a short wander with sketchbooks in a newly planted woodland and along the lane adjoining Nissi. This environment provides many smaller landscapes to investigate and draw using different materials.
Karen will be guiding the group to explore different types of drawing with lively art exercises along the route. This is an introductory day to the drawing walks and the main focus of the day will be on the experience of drawing in the fresh air; practising noticing and seeing.
A vocabulary of drawn marks and felt impressions will be gathered whilst feeling free to experiment and make mistakes along the way.
A second day on 15th September entitled 'Concertina Walk Book' will be again using the lane and environment of Nissi Farm, the sheep, the acre garden and vegetable patch as a place to explore, walk and draw. The idea for the day is to gather drawings and ideas in the morning to use as inspiration in the afternoon to make monoprints and a small concertina book.
Following both of these days with Karen I am giving the opportunity to come back on the following week for a day in the studio and surrounding environment to share with each other your experience of the day and to continue with drawings and ideas that you might like to extend.
Each workshop is £55 which includes the bonus self led day. You can email me at email@example.com to book your place
