Spring has Sprung!

After a quiet winter and a gentle plodding on with my art, a new season has arrived and it seems some new and exciting ventures are on the horizon.

Springing up

From 16th May to 22nd July I will be taking part in a pilot scheme run by Tresorys Kernow to see studios on the High Street. Three unused shops in Launceston will be taken over by artists for 10 weeks, so that the public are able to view and engage with artists’ creative practice. This will take something that often happens out of sight in spaces that are not accessible to others into the public domain and so engaging with a wider audience. As part of Swanskin Printmakers we will be using what was the W H Smith shop in Launceston (a lovely big space) to make works demonstrating various methods of printmaking and encouraging others to drop in and have a go.

If you are in the area, drop in and see what we are up too. I am very excited to see how this develops, not only in our space but also within the other shops that other artists are occupying. For more information go to.cornwall museums partnership

Printmaking workshop coming soon.

This February I am very pleased to be able to host a workshop with tutor Sophie Fordham leading the day. Sophie is a local artist printmaker who teaches in her own studio as well as in adult education here in Bude and also at Liskeard.

GUM ARABIC/PAPER LITHO.

In this workshop students will have the opportunity to learn a very different but very accessible form of printmaking which is suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike. There will be the chance to reproduce a range of printed matter onto different surfaces including fabric, with or without a press and the chance to create a concertina book with the printed items.

This is happening on February 16th. Contact me on my workshop page if you would like to book a place

Art Workshops 2018

This year I am sure will be an exciting year as I open up my new studio space to a creative community.

It is my belief that community and hands on practise as well as sharing with others is what helps our art endeavours to blossom and flourish, and this year I am super excited to share with you my news about the  experienced art practitioners coming to facilitate a learning experience at Nissi studio. Read more about the first two events to come up here.

Exhibition of Printmaking

Just 2 more days of our exhibition ‘Looking Beyond’ at the Castle Gallery, Bude, and it is followed by a diverse exhibition of printmaking, featuring the work of Faith Chevannes, Sophie Fordham, Gabrielle Goodchild, Karen House, Maddie Meaden, Helen Murgatroyd Hayley Wrigley and myself. Each artist employs printmaking in a completely different way into their work making for a great collection when grouped together. I am sure it will be worth making another visit to The Castle, Bude!
